Who Ya Gonna Call? A Ghostbusters Birthday Party to Remember

Who ya gonna call for the ultimate birthday bash? Ghostbusters, of course! 🎉 When my son turned five, he wanted ghosts, slime, and everything spooky-but-fun. So we transformed The Celebration Studio into Ghostbusters Headquarters, complete with slime zones, city skylines, and a Stay Puft cake. It turned out to be a party full of laughs, sugar, and unforgettable details — and I’m sharing all of our ideas so you can plan your own.

Decorations
The decorations were all about slime and caution tape. Black tablecloths became the base for neon green “slime” runners and bright yellow caution tape. Suddenly, every table looked like part of a ghost containment zone.

For the backdrop, we hung a giant Ghostbusters flag, added green and black streamers, and layered in more caution tape for that “don’t cross this line” vibe. The doors even got a spooky makeover with monster eyes and slime dripping down.

Small touches made a big impact too — themed balloons, cones wrapped in caution tape, and cutout letters spelling out my son’s name. It all pulled together into the perfect Ghostbusters Headquarters.

Food & Treats
The food table was just as fun as the décor. We kept it simple but went all-in on the theme:
The Cake – A Ghostbusters cake topped with Stay Puft, Slimer, and Ghostbusters figurines. Slime dripped over the sides for the perfect spooky touch.
Cupcakes – White icing with neon green “slime” on top.
Slime Jell-O Cups – Green Jell-O with custom Ghostbusters toppers.
Candy Bar – Bowls of black, red, and neon green candies added color and let kids fill their own treat cups.
Ghost Snacks – White chocolate pretzels and marshmallows with candy eyes.

Games & Activities
What’s a Ghostbusters party without ghost-catching? We set up a few simple but super-fun activities:
🎯 Catch the Ghost – A pin-the-tail style game where kids tried to stick the Ghostbusters “no ghost” logo onto Slimer.

👻 Craft Station – Coloring pages, sticker kits, and ghost crafts gave kids a chance to get creative in between games.

🍬 Slimer’s Marshmallow Toss – Kids loved tossing marshmallows into Slimer’s big green mouth. It was silly, a little messy, and a huge hit.

Party Favors & Extras
The little details are what made this party shine. Each child went home with a Ghostbusters goody bag filled with candy, bubbles, and slime “ectoplasm.”

We had themed signs everywhere — “Reserved for Ghostbusters,” and “Warning! Slime Zone” Those touches made the space feel immersive, like the kids had really stepped into Ghostbusters HQ.

And of course, the birthday boy wore his Ghostbusters jumpsuit and proton pack. Talk about being party-ready!

Final Thoughts
This Ghostbusters birthday party was one of our favorites yet. With some slime green accents, caution tape, and a few DIY touches, it all came together perfectly. The kids had a blast, and my little Ghostbuster still talks about it.

If you’re planning your own, grab some green treats, throw up some caution tape, and get ready to bust some ghosts. It’s a theme that never goes out of style!

Pin this post to save for later — and may your party be full of fun (and slime). 💚
